Si riportano di seguito due annunci di selezione di candidati per le figure professionali di

Consulente per le politiche relative ai diritti umani dell’Unione Mondiale dei Ciechi
Responsabile delle campagne di sensibilizzazione dell’Unione Europea dei Ciechi

I candidati per la figura ricercata dall’Unione Mondiale dei Ciechi dovranno avere, tra gli altri requisiti, un’ottima conoscenza della lingua inglese scritta e orale insieme a una buona conoscenza di almeno un’altra lingua tra francese e spagnolo e la conoscenza dei principali documenti che trattano di diritti umani delle persone con disabilità, come la Convenzione ONU sui Diritti delle Persone con Disabilità, gli Obiettivi di sviluppo sostenibile (SDGs) e il Trattato di Marrakech. Il Consulente potrà lavorare dal proprio domicilio con contratto full-time per un anno, ma con possibilità di rinnovo. L’Unione Europea dei Ciechi offre per la figura professionale ricercata un contratto di lavoro a tempo indeterminato, preferibilmente con sede lavorativa a Parigi (Francia), anche se è possibile proporre di lavorare da casa. Tra gli altri requisiti, sono richiesti un’ottima conoscenza della lingua inglese (mentre la buona conoscenza della lingua francese è un fattore preferenziale), almeno 5 anni di esperienza lavorativa retribuita nel settore delle campagne di sensibilizzazione, essersi occupati di diritti umani e disabilità. JOB TITLE: Human Rights Policy Advisor

TERM: Full-time, One Year Contract with possibility for renewal

LOCATION:
To be determined; preference for location in a developing country in partnership with WBU member organization or home-based

REPORTING:
The Human Rights Policy Advisor reports directly to the CEO World Blind Union, with secondary day-to-day reporting to the Manager of the host partner (if applicable)

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Human Rights Policy Advisor will support the World Blind Union at all levels in carrying out its representation role on behalf of blind and partially sighted persons worldwide.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES entail (but not limited to):
Analyzing and interpreting international instruments of importance to WBU and blind and partially sighted persons, including but not limited to:
UNCRPD
Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s)
Marrakesh Treaty
Prevention of Blindness Action Plan
CEDAW
CRC
UNOHCHR including Universal Periodic Review
Assisting WBU at international and regional levels to develop and implement strategies and action plans regarding these instruments for the benefit of members at the grassroots level.
Development of tools and resources to enhance member engagement and support them in their implementation strategies
Provide analysis and strategic advice on emerging international processes, instruments, priorities such as, for example:
Disaster risk reduction
Situation of refugees
SDG’s implementation and Monitoring
Financing for Development
Other emerging issues as they arise
Provide support as expert advisor to WBU and its members on issues related to UN advocacy and representation
Development and utilization of a variety of communications and training information, tools and resources through the utilization of technology and other methodologies to support our human rights and advocacy strategies and implementation. Such tools might include:
Website
Newsletter articles
Webinars
Social media channels, such as Twitter, blogs, etc.
Training programs (such as BRIDGE training, online training, etc.)
Developing a community of practice at regional level
Liaise with other international partners as appropriate to facilitate and strengthen WBU’s representation work. In particular, these liaisons include International Disability Alliance, CBM Advocacy Coordinators, Vision Alliance members

QUALIFICATIONS: (EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE)
Post-secondary education in a related field
Experience in the areas of human rights, advocacy and disability rights
International experience a strong asset
Excellent written and oral communications in English essential as well as additional language ability, in particular French and/or Spanish
Well developed interpersonal and communications skills
Superior analysis and writing skills
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software, and social media
Fundraising skills
Available for occasional international travel
Personal knowledge of blindness or low vision a definite asset

SALARY RANGE: Approximately $40,000 USD, commensurate with experience

CAREER OPPORTUNITY

The European Blind Union (EBU) is a non-governmental, non-profit making European organisation founded in 1984. It is one of the six regional bodies of the World Blind Union. It protects and promotes the interests of blind and partially sighted people in Europe. It currently operates within a network of national organisations of the visually impaired in 42 European countries – www.euroblind.org

JOB TITLE: Head of EBU Campaigning

JOB SECTOR: Civil society

TERM: Permanent

LOCATION: Paris, France; other arrangements like home-based work are open for discussion.

REPORTING: The Head of EBU Campaigning reports directly to the EBU Commission for Liaising with the EU Chair and to the EBU Executive Director.

SALARY RANGE: €39000 to €43000 yearly gross (including 13th month), commensurate with job experience; + lunch vouchers and complementary health insurance.

CONTEXT: The European Blind Union (EBU) and its network of 42 national members work to protect and promote the rights of blind and partially sighted citizens in Europe. EBU is developing its campaigning activity and is recruiting a person with confirmed skills to coordinate and lead on EBU’s campaigns.

SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Head of EBU Campaigning will pro-actively coordinate EBU’s campaigning activity – mostly at the EU level – and will lead a number of specific campaigns to be determined.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES entailed (but not limited to):
1/ Coordinating EBU’s campaigning
* Collecting and centralizing information on ongoing campaigns (status, developments, etc.) through direct and permanent contact with the campaign leaders
* Informing the EBU Board, the national members, partners and other stakeholders
* Developing the campaigning potential of EBU and ensuring more active involvement of its members
* Improving EBU national members’ campaigning skills

2/ Leading specific EBU campaigns:
* Collecting data and good practices from EBU national members and any other relevant sources of information
* Drafting policy papers on key issues, including responses to EC consultations
* Coordinating EBU national members’ contributions (responses to EC consultations) and participation in lobbying activities
* Providing lobbying material (briefings, model letters to MEPs, etc) to EBU national members
* Liaising with the EU institutions
* Networking with EBU stakeholders
* Attending policy-making meetings, mostly in Brussels and Strasburg

3/ eCampaigning and Public relations
* Ensuring the coordination of EBU’s eCampaigning, including the overall management of EBU’s Twitter account
* Attending awareness-raising events
* Liaising with the media

PROFILE AND SKILLS
* Post-secondary education in campaigning or in a related field
* Experience in the areas of human rights, advocacy and disability rights
* European experience a strong asset
* Excellent oral and written communications skills in English
* Good command of French and of other languages is definitely an asset
* Excellent command of social media
* Excellent knowledge of the EU institutions and of the European decision-making processes
* At least 5 years paid campaigning experience
* Open minded and pro-active
